Monday – 8 October 2018 Depart USA

Depart from Dallas to Washington (DULLES) where you will then connect on your international flight to Johannesburg, South Africa on South African Airways. From the moment you board your South African Airways flight you feel the warm and welcoming African hospitality in every detail of the world class service you are about to experience.

DEPART WASHINGTON (DULLES) *Please be aware that this flight stops in Dakar, Senegal roughly halfway through the flight.  The aircraft is on the ground for an hour during which time you will remain on the plane.  Other passengers may join or leave the flight and a cleaning crew will move through the aircraft.*Flying time including the stop in Dakar is approximately 17 hours.  Dinner and refreshments are served prior to the stop in Dakar, and in the morning breakfast is served followed later by lunch.  Meals and the snacks and drinks that are available throughout the flight as well as the in-flight entertainment program are at no additional cost.

Tuesday – 9 October 2018 Arrive Johannesburg

On arrival at Johannesburg’s Oliver Tambo International Airport’s Central Terminal Building, collect your luggage and then clear customs and immigration. You will be met by a Lion World Travel representative and transferred to your hotel. The renowned Michelangelo Hotel is a 5-star hotel located on Sandton’s Nelson Mandela Square in Johannesburg, with easy access to Africa’s finest shops, restaurants, cinemas and theatres. The Michelangelo is a proud member of the ‘Leading Hotels of the World’. The hotel is built in Renaissance style and offers luxurious accommodation in large and comfortable rooms. Wednesday – 10 October 2018 Johannesburg/Kapama

After breakfast you will be transferred from your hotel to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit to begin your safari experience. On arrival the group will be met and transferred to Kapama Southern Camp to spend 3-nights including all meals, teas, coffees and pastries, twice daily open vehicle game viewing activities. The Kapama Southern Camp is situated in the south of Kapama Private Game Reserve, a Big Five game reserve located adjacent to the Kruger National Park. It offers luxury game lodge accommodation, warm hospitality and friendly service in a tranquil setting. All 15 standard suites at Southern Camp have full en-suite bathrooms with picture windows to enjoy the surrounding scenery and birdlife. Air conditioning, minibars and tea and coffee stations are standard in all suites. Private patios offer the opportunity to enjoy relaxing sundowners, while game watching at the same time.  The lounge and pool are the ideal place to relax with a good book or soak up the surrounding scenery, and are excellent vantage spots from which to game view too. The traditional outdoor boma is the favoured setting for dinner, weather permitting. Illuminated by firelight and starry skies, diners will enjoy diverse and tasteful cuisine conjured by chefs right before them. Open fires are often used for cooking too, in true African style. Thursday – 11 October 2018 Kapama Private Game Reserve

Enjoy two daily game drives accompanied by a skilled ranger and tracker.  Expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species, and since this is a ‘Big Five’ reserve, seeing lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo is possible over a two-day safari. While seeing big game is always exhilarating, there are many other smaller species that are also captivating, and birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the approximately 350 species of birds recorded on the reserve. Return to the lodge, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner. Evening meals are often enjoyed seated around a roaring fire in the Rhino Boma. Friday – 12 October 2018 Kapama Private Game Reserve

Another day to experience exciting dawn and dusk open vehicle game viewing activities! In between game drives, relax in the open-air lounge with a book. Saturday – 13 October 2018 Kapama/Johannesburg/Durban/Phinda

After an early morning game drive to track the animals that may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast, you will be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg where you will then connect for your flight to Durban. On arrival in Durban you will be met on arrival and transferred to your safari lodge. Another day to experience exciting morning and afternoon game drives! After breakfast you will be taken on a private full day Peninsula tour. Cruise along the exquisite stretch of coastline known as Millionaire’s Paradise – from Clifton to Camps Bay, to the exclusive beach hamlet of Llandudno – towards the charming working harbour of Hout Bay. Embark on an up-close-and-personal Seal Island cruise (optional and for own account).  Wind along the legendary Chapman’s Peak Drive, hugging the cliffs and relishing the breathtaking ocean views, before arriving at our lunch spot of choice (own account) at the Cape of Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park.  Meander back along the coast towards the City, visiting the historic naval port of Simon’s Town and the endearing penguin colony at Boulder’s Beach. We venture inland to our last stop of the day at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. With the sun setting over the tall peaks of Table Mountain the last rays sparkle on the trees and flowers. Thursday – 18 October 2018 Cape Town

After breakfast you will be taken on a private full day Winelands tour. A superb day dedicated to celebrating the glorious grape, the exceptional Winelands region, and the heavenly scenery! The area’s rich with history, and we can’t help but feel it as we move through the region to experience a wine cellar tour and tasting, where you’ll learn all about the process of winemaking, from grape to goblet. We visit the exquisite little town of Franschhoek, pass by the impressive Huguenot Monument, and in a town with a reputation for gourmet fare, where else could we choose to enjoy lunch (for own account).  Wind our way to the heady heights of the Helshoogte Mountain Pass to meet the charming university town of Stellenbosch on the other side. Stroll through this little town, absorbing the quaintness, and sneaking into the odd shop or two! MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO SHARON CARR TRAVEL

A deposit of $1800 per person is due with booking, 2nd payment of $2800 is due Jan 1, 2018 and final payment is due no later than June 1, 2018. The advertised price represents a 5% discount for payments made by cash or check.  The price is 5% higher for a credit card payment and requires an authorized signature.  We accept MC, VISA, and AX.  If cancelled before Jan 1, 2018, a $800 per person fee is assessed. If cancelled before June 1, 2018, a $2600 fee per person is assessed.  If cancelled on or after June 1, 2018, trip is non refundable.
