Monday – 24 May 2021 Johannesburg/Greater Kruger Park

After breakfast you will be transferred from your hotel to Johannesburg Airport for your flight to Mpumalanga/Skukuza to begin your safari experience. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Lukimbi Safari Lodge or Hamilton’s Tented Camp where you will spend 2-nights including all meals and twice daily safari activities. The Lukimbi Safari Lodge is situated in the easily accessible southern portion of the Kruger National Park. Kruger is home to the Big Five – Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino and Leopard – and a wide variety of other animals and birds, which roam freely in their natural habitat. All the spacious suites combine luxury and modern African decor with private decks and river views. Each suite has a spacious bathroom that looks directly onto the bush, inside and outside shower and separate toilet. All have air-conditioning, fan, safe, gauzy, romantic mosquito nets, tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar. The height of the lodge above the river provides safe viewing points and the raised walkways provide guests with clear and easy access to their suites. The lounge overlooks the Lwakahle River where animals often come to drink. Meals are beautifully presented and add to the whole enjoyable experience. The bar is a great pre-dinner gathering place to exchange game spotting stories, hear Shangaan tales and to sip cocktails. It also has an award-winning wine list and cellar.

Tuesday – 25 May 2021 – Greater Kruger Park

Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game viewing activities in this world-famous famous national park, which will include an open Landrover game drive and a safari walk. After breakfast, you can join qualified guides on a bush walk, which is not more than two hours. This is a great opportunity to see some of the smaller creatures and plants up close, not to mention some of the larger wildlife in their natural environment.

Accommodation: Lukimbi Safari Lodge – 13x Classic Suites & 1x Premier Suite or

Hamiltons Tented Camp – 5x Tented Suites (B, L, D)

IMPORTANT NOTE: For the 2 nights at either Lukimbi or Hamiltons, the group will not be together. Those staying at Lukimbi will have meals together and those staying at Hamiltons; likewise. The two lodges are not close. My family and I will most likely stay at Lukimbi since that will be the larger group. This will all depend on client preferences. My first choice would be the tents but we only have 5.

Wednesday – 26 May 2021 – Kruger Park/Kapama

After an early morning game drive to track the animals that may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast, you will be transferred by road to the Kapama Private Game Reserve. On arrival at the Kapama Southern Camp, spend 3-nights including all meals, teas, coffees and pastries, twice daily open vehicle game viewing activities. The Kapama Southern Camp is situated in the south of Kapama Private Game Reserve, a Big Five game reserve located adjacent to the Kruger National Park. It offers luxury game lodge accommodation, warm hospitality and friendly service in a tranquil setting. All standard suites at Southern Camp have full en-suite bathrooms with picture windows to enjoy the surrounding scenery and birdlife. Air conditioning, minibars and tea and coffee stations are standard in all suites. Private patios offer the opportunity to enjoy relaxing sundowners, while game watching at the same time

The lounge and pool are the ideal place to relax with a good book or soak up the surrounding scenery and are excellent vantage spots from which to game view too. The traditional outdoor boma is the favoured setting for dinner, weather permitting. Illuminated by firelight and starry skies, diners will enjoy diverse and tasteful cuisine conjured by chefs right before them. Open fires are often used for cooking too, in true African style. Set off on your first open vehicle game this afternoon – sure to be an exciting experience! Don’t forget to take a light sweater, insect repellent, your camera and binoculars!

Accommodation: Kapama Southern Camp – 14 x Standard Suites, 6x Villas

Thursday – 27 May 2021 – Kapama Private Game Reserve

Enjoy two daily game drives accompanied by a skilled ranger and tracker. Expect to encounter a diverse range of animal and bird species, and since this is a ‘Big Five’ reserve, seeing lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo is possible over a two-day safari.

While seeing big game is always exhilarating, there are many other smaller species that are also captivating, and birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the approximately 350 species of birds recorded on the reserve.

Return to the lodge, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner. Evening meals are often enjoyed seated around a roaring fire in the Rhino Boma. Alternatively enjoy a romantic dinner in the dry riverbed in front of the lodge, under a star-studded African night sky.

Friday – 28 May 2021 – Kapama Private Game Reserve

Another day to experience exciting dawn and dusk open vehicle game viewing activities!

In between game drives, relax in the open-air lounge with a book. You can also relax under umbrellas around the pool, which is also a prime vantage point for game viewing, attracting various antelope species, elephant and buffalo.
