March 29 – April 6, 2024

Starting at $2419 per person, double occupancy

Find inspiration in the romantic, soul-stirring beauty of the fabled Rhine.

Discover Alsace, whose dual French and German heritage has given it fabulous food and a winemaking tradition that goes back to the Romans. Marvel at castles that were once mighty fortresses and get an insider’s look at one of the only castles on the Rhine that has never been destroyed, Marksburg Castle. Visit historic cities, including ancient Cologne and picturesque Strasbourg; stroll through the fairytale town of Rüdesheim; and taste delightful white wines in the villages where the grapes are grown.

Generations Family Program (select sailings): Share the enchantment of this region with the special young people in your life. These cruises not only feature unique, fun-filled adventures for families to enjoy together, they’re also packed with culturally and historically significant experiences designed to spark creativity and lifelong learning.

Breisach is your gateway to the Alsatian wine road and your launching point for an excursion along the celebrated Route des Vins, which hugs the foothills of the Vosges mountain range, or a city tour of Freiburg. This morning, enjoy leisure time as you sail the scenic Upper Rhine to Breisach.

A special Captain’s Welcome Reception and Dinner will be prepared for you this evening.

Kehl, directly across the river from Strasbourg, will be your ship’s base while you explore the Alsatian capital. If you’re feeling adventurous, take advantage of Uniworld’s bicycles or Nordic walking sticks and explore the banks of the river.

You have the entire afternoon to see more of Strasbourg on your own.

Day 8 | APR 6, 2024 | COLOGNE
History buffs will enjoy an expertly led tour through Cologne’s Old Town, where three medieval gates remain standing, as does the old city hall with its Renaissance façade. Wander through the city’s historical center and take in its charming atmosphere, narrow alleyways flanked by old houses and countless breweries. No matter how you choose to explore Old Town, you’ll also have ample free time to explore on your own.

DAY TO DAY

Day 1 | MAR 28, 2024 | Lake Lucerne
Once you’ve cleared customs, you will be greeted by a Uniworld representative and transferred to the hotel. There you will check in, drop off your bags and, if you wish, go out and explore the city on your own. Your Uniworld local host can offer suggestions for your leisure time.

Day 2 | MAR 29, 2024 | Lake Lucerne
FEATURED EXCURSION: Lucerne City walk with boat ride
Meet your local guide for a stroll through the picturesque—and perfectly preserved—Old Town. Bloom-filled flower boxes line both Chapel Bridge, with its iconic medieval tower, and Mill Bridge, which spans the Reuss River just before it empties into the lake. Wine Market Square, with its frescoed palace façades and central fountain, the town hall, and the medieval ramparts—nine of its original towers remain—make up the heart of the district. A bit farther afield you’ll find the Lion Monument, which commemorates the hundreds of Swiss Guards who died in 1792 defending Louis XVI during the French Revolution.

See Lucerne from a completely different point of view during a scenic one-hour boat ride on Lake Lucerne. Picturesque onion-domed churches and historic palaces cast their reflection on the water, the snow-capped Alps tower in the distance. It’s an idyllic scene.

MASTERPIECE COLLECTION EXCURSION*: Mt. Stanserhorn
For those who love embracing nature—and really, who doesn’t?—the Swiss mountains are beyond compare. Breathtaking views, walking paths, charming flowers and greenery in the warmer months and snow in the wintertime are par for the course, but each mountain has its own special qualities as well. The Stanserhorn is no exception. Peaking at 6,227 ft above sea level, the Stanserhorn offers a gorgeous trip up the mountain via a funicular railway, which dates back to 1893. The historic path climbs midway up the mountain, and from there we’ll hop on a Cabrio—the world’s first open-air cable car—to soar all the way to the top of the mountain.

Day 3 | MAR 30, 2024 | Lake Lucerne
Today after breakfast, you will be transferred to the ship to begin your journey.

*Masterpiece Collection are optional experiences that go above and beyond our daily selection of included excursions and can be booked for an additional fee. Masterpiece Collection excursions may not operate if they occur on a holiday or if they require a minimum number of participants and that minimum is not met.

  • Amsterdam canals and famous Rijksmuseum
  • English-speaking expert

DAY TO DAY

Day 1 | APR 7, 2024 | AMSTERDAM
FEATURED EXCURSION: The Famous Rijksmuseum & Amsterdam Canal Cruise
Start your morning with a tour of the Rijksmuseum. You’ll walk to the famous museum, where an expert guide will help you navigate the largest and most renowned collection of Dutch and Flemish art and artifacts in the world, now arranged to reveal the history of Dutch art. After your guided tour, you’ll have some time to explore the museum on your own.

Additionally, your tour manager will provide a canal cruise ticket for you to use at your own leisure. Amsterdam is called the Venice of the North for a reason: canals crisscross the heart of the old city, and bridges link approximately 90 islands. As the principal city in a newly independent Holland, Amsterdam was a boom town in the early 17th century, rapidly outgrowing its medieval walls. The city’s fathers responded by demolishing most of the old city and building anew, creating Europe’s first planned city. That “new” district is now 400 years old, and as you glide along the main canals, you’ll pass stately merchants’ houses-built centuries ago. But the canals are not merely scenic; they are essential thoroughfares—people take water buses to work and live in houseboats along the banks—so a canal cruise gives you a look at the busy modern city too.

Day 2 | APR 8, 2024 | AMSTERDAM
How do you choose among Amsterdam’s sights and delights? You could ramble through the Jordaan district, not far from the Anne Frank house. It has always attracted artists—Rembrandt himself is buried at the West Church here. Today you’ll find charming and unique little shops, just like in the nearby Nine Streets neighborhood. Enjoy the street performers on Leidseplein Square or check out the huge and lively Albert Cuyp Market, home to a vast array of international foodstuffs. Visit the unique former Jewish Quarter where the Portuguese synagogue seems virtually untouched since the 17th century. Next door is the former Ashkenazi synagogue complex. Nowadays, it hosts the biggest Jewish Historical Museum outside Israel. Call upon your guide’s deep local knowledge for recommendations; they will be happy to suggest sights and destinations that will delight you.

MASTERPIECE COLLECTION EXCURSION*: Hidden Amsterdam
Embark on an exploration of Amsterdam’s icons, starting with a look behind the scenes at something most visitors only admire from the outside: one of the city’s most beautiful canal houses. You’ll see many of them as you walk around town, but Museum Van Loon stands apart from the rest. Built in the 17th century, this private-residence-turned-museum is an immaculately preserved homage to Dutch Golden Age style.

Next, stop for a cup of coffee and a slice of the country’s famous apple pie before heading to a colorful flower market or a hidden courtyard known as the Begijnhof, the historic home of a collective of unmarried religious women.

Day 3 | APR 9, 2024 | AMSTERDAM
You have sampled culinary delights and experienced the best that Amsterdam has to offer. Now it’s time to check out of the hotel and be transferred to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for your trip home. Your Uniworld adventure may be over, but we know you’ll enjoy the memories you’ve made for years to come.

*Masterpiece Collection are optional experiences that go above and beyond our daily selection of included excursions and can be booked for an additional fee. Masterpiece Collection excursions may not operate if they occur on a holiday or if they require a minimum number of participants and that minimum is not met.
